Article 24 of Public Act 299 was created to license and regulate persons engaged in the construction of a residential structure or combination residential and commercial structure, or persons who undertake the repair, alteration, addition, subtraction or improvement of a residential structure or combination residential and commercial structure for compensation other than wages for personal labor.
These courses will satisfy both Individual Builder and Maintenance and Alteration Builder license requirements. In order to receive your license, you must successfully complete 60 hours of approved prelicensure education, submit an Individual Residential Builder and Maintenance & Alteration Contractor License Application and the application fee, be of good moral character, and successfully complete the Residential Builder or Maintenance & Alteration Contractor examination once all other requirements are met. You are also responsible for having the latest edition of the Michigan Residential Code Book. This is made available to purchase from the International Code Council through the State of Michigan.
